I guess we didn't realize it at the time, but Stray Cat Social Club started in 2010 with our first rescue on the streets of Bushwick, Brooklyn - a lone kitten, gray tabby with big white paws, a few doors down from a popular taqueria on Starr Street.

It was a small start with big ramifications - from that moment on we've filled our home with rescues and fosters, misfits and monsters of all shapes, sizes, ages and dispositions.

Some we've kept (typically the misfits), some we've lost, and while cat rescue is rarely easy you also know that the work never ends and you have to keep going because there's always another cat out there that needs you.

And in this way, little by little, cat by cat, we learned by doing - colony caretaking, shelter construction, TNR techniques.

In 2018 we decided to build and launch Stray Cat Social Club as a way to represent cat rescue in our community, to help raise funds to support our TNR projects and rescue efforts, and to hopefully open dialogues about TNR and compassionate feral cat care in our neighborhoods.

Yes, Stray Cat Social Club is our brand, but it is also, quite literally, our home.

A home for all of those misfits and monsters, those friendlies and ferals we've met over the years and the ones we've yet to meet, waiting for a kind hand and a can of food in an empty lot somewhere in North Brooklyn.
